Frequently Asked Questions
We answer common questions about Reiki, and Usui Reiki courses
How long does it take to learn Usui Reiki Level 1?
You can learn Reiki Level 1 over a weekend. In some cases we also offer a mix of online and in-person classes, in which case it will take three days – two Saturday mornings to receive the attunements and practice on your classmates, and one weekday evening for an online theory lesson.
What is the difference between Usui Reiki Level 1 and 2?
Level 1 lays the foundation of Reiki and focused on self-healing and spiritual development. You will be taught how to give yourself Reiki treatments and also how give treatments to friends and family. In Level 2, which is also known as the Practitioner level, we go deeper into the system of Reiki and introduce students to the three Usui Reiki symbols. With this deeper knowledge and ability to use the symbols, you can start seeing clients and charge a fee. The difference between Level 1 and Level 2 is that with a Level 2 qualification you can earn money from giving Reiki treatments.
How long do I have to wait between the Reiki levels?
In order to allow the body to get accustomed to the higher vibrational levels of the Reiki energy, and to give you time to become more confident in the use of Reiki, we recommend the following:
Three months between Level 1 and Level 2 (Practitioner); six months between Level 2 and Level 3a (Master Practitioner); and a year between Level 3a and Level 3b (Master Teacher). Before qualifying as a Reiki Practitioner ir as a Reiki Master Teacher, case studies are also required. Visit the Reiki Level 2 and Reiki Level 3 pages for more information.
Do I have to write a test?
There is no test to write for Level 1, or for Level 3a. For Level 2 you would have to hand in case studies before we issue you your Reiki Practitioner certification. For Level 3b a practical and written test is required.
How much does a Reiki course cost?
Level 1 courses start from R2,570. Level 2 (Practitioner) and Level 3a (Master Practitioner) courses start from R3,170. The prices vary depending on location. Visit the shop to choose the location and see the course fee.
How do I know that you are good Reiki Masters to learn Reiki from?
Our Reiki training lineage can be traced back in an unbroken line to the founder of the system of Reiki, Mikao Usui. (See our Reiki lineage here.) We are also Usui Reiki Master Teacher members of the Reiki Guild South Africa. If you have any doubt about whether you should learn Reiki from us, give us a call, come for a Reiki treatment or meet us for coffee. We completely agree that choosing a Reiki Master is an important decision that should not be taken lightly.
What if I want to learn Reiki but you don’t have a Reiki course near me?
Please contact us! If at least six people sign up to a Reiki course we will be happy to travel to your town to teach you Reiki. We can also make arrangements to teach Reiki one-to-one at an additional cost.
