Practitioner Membership
A nurturing space for Usui Reiki South Africa practitioners, created to build their confidence, visibility, and sustainable Reiki businesses while also helping people across South Africa find professional practitioners who embody the true spirit of Reiki.
Our Goal With Practitioner Memberships
For us, teaching Reiki doesn’t end when a certificate is issued. It marks the beginning of a practitioner’s journey. This is our programme to lovingly support our students as they step into starting their professional Reiki Practice.
Supporting You as You Begin Your Practice
As you start seeing clients, it’s natural to feel both excited and unsure. We set out to create a nurturing space where our students can grow in confidence, feel supported, and remain connected to their lineage whilst building a professional Reiki Practice. Much like a parent continues to guide a child as they begin their career, we see our role as walking alongside our practitioners as they find their own way.
Helping You Build a Reiki Practice
We believe that one of the most effective ways to facilitate healing is to support those who offer it. This programme exists to help our practitioners be visible to the people who are looking for them, to present themselves professionally, and to build businesses that are sustainable and aligned with their lives. Not everyone wishes to teach frequently or work full‑time as a practitioner. Our structure honors those differences without pressure or expectation.
One Community, Different Needs
All Practitioner Members are part of the Usui Reiki South Africa community and receive ongoing guidance, connection, and support. The two membership options simply reflect different levels of visibility and promotion, allowing practitioners to choose what best suits their current stage of practice. Members are free to move between options as their circumstances change because this programme supports real people, real lives, and real practices.
Choosing the Membership That’s Right for You
Mamoru ~ held and supported
Practitioner Membership
守 (Mamoru) is a Japanese word that means to protect, to hold, and to care for.
It reflects the beginning stages of the journey towards setting up a Reiki Practice where you are supported and gently held as you begin working with clients. This is a space where you are nurtured without pressure to be more, or do more, than feels right for you.
As a Practitioner Member, you are listed in our Practitioner Directory, where potential clients can find you by province. Your individual listing includes your name, location, Reiki level, photograph, a short biography, contact details, social media links, and a client testimonial. Practitioners can use this listing as a simple but effective personal landing page, particularly if they do not yet have their own website.
You also receive access to practitioner templates, including treatment sheets and client intake forms, helping you work professionally and consistently from the start. Through our private practitioner WhatsApp group, monthly support emails, and free access to all monthly Reiki Shares, you remain connected to a community, with guidance and support.
Practitioner Members may use the title “Usui Reiki South Africa Certified Practitioner”, reflecting verified training and lineage, and may receive client or student referrals when enquiries are directed to Usui Reiki South Africa in their area.
The Practitioner Membership is rooted in the spirit of Mamoru: a container that offers guidance, connection, and visibility, while allowing your confidence and experience to grow naturally.
Hiraku ~ open and becoming visible
Practitioner Visibility Membership
開 (Hiraku) means to open, to unfold, or to make accessible.
It represents the moment when a practitioner feels ready to step forward – to be seen more clearly, to share their work more widely, or to begin to teach Reiki. This is not about striving or self‑promotion, but about allowing your business to grow in a sustainable way.
In addition to everything included in the Practitioner Membership, Visibility Members receive enhanced visibility within the directory. Their listings are highlighted on province pages and expanded to include a longer biography, additional photographs, and up to three client testimonials, allowing potential clients or students to gain a deeper sense of who they are and how they work.
This membership also includes regular social media promotion on the Usui Reiki South Africa Facebook and Instagram pages, with posts reshared into relevant Facebook groups to increase reach. For practitioners, this helps attract clients; for teachers, promotional focus can shift to upcoming courses when needed. Listings are updated to include course dates, and support is offered with course structure, outlines, and event presentation.
Visibility Members may also use Usui Reiki South Africa’s official Reiki manuals, course certificates, and lineage certificates, which can be purchased as physical copies as needed. This ensures consistency in the URSA lineage, while giving flexibility for those who teach only occasionally and removes the pressure of writing manuals.
The Practitioner Visibility Membership embodies the spirit of Hiraku, offering expanded visibility, marketing support, and amplification to help Reiki practitioners build their healing Practices.
There is no hierarchy implied between these two membership levels. They simply reflect different seasons of practice. Some practitioners remain in Mamoru for many years. Others move fluidly between Mamoru and Hiraku as their work evolves. Both are equally valued and respected.

Frequently Asked Questions about our programme
Should I also join the Reiki Guild of South Africa?
Membership with the Reiki Guild of South Africa is optional, not required. Our membership programme is designed to support your practice, marketing, guidance, and community. As part of the Usui Reiki South Africa lineage, your qualification is recognized directly through us.
You’re welcome to join the Guild, but your ability to practice, teach, and operate under our lineage is fully valid without it. John and Natasja will remain Master Teacher members of the Guild.
Can I pause my monthly membership?
We understand that life has natural cycles. If you experience financial strain, personal challenges, or a temporary slowdown in your healing business, you may request a membership pause for 1 – 2 months per year – either as one 2-month break or two separate 1-month breaks. During this period you will not be billed, and your profile on the directory will remain active. This allows you to remain part of our Reiki community and visible on the website.
If you are a Practitioner Visibility Member you will revert to Practitioner Membership (i.e. without the social media promotions) while your membership is paused. The full terms are set out in the Terms & Conditions Agreement.
Can I cancel my monthly membership?
Yes, as long as you give us one month’s written notice. The full terms are set out in the Terms & Conditions Agreement.
What happens when I sign up?
